The Selby & District Junior Football League have organised a FREE referee course for anyone who would like to referee in the Selby junior football league

We have also teamed up with Macron sportswear who have agreed to sponsor any Selby League trainee referee with a FREE Macron referee kit (more later)

The course will take place at Thorpe United Football Club, YO8 9FL on the following dates

  • Wednesday 30th October 2019
  • Thursday 31st October 2019
  • Friday 1st November 2019
We have selected the half term holiday to encourage young referees (14 and over) to take the course. We also hope there will be adults taking up this fantastic opportunity

How it works:

Candidates email our referee secretary Peter Earl at E-Mail Peter with their name, email address, mobile number, selby league club association and FAN number (if they have one)

Example:
Dean Smith
d.smith@gmail.com
07777 555555
Wheldrake
FAN 5554443

The only criteria we require is that candidates must be at least 14 years old by 30th October 2019 and will be able to referee in the Selby League.

Once the minimum of 12 candidates have applied West Riding County FA can be informed for it to go ahead. A link will then be sent to each candidate to book on the course and pay the £135 course fee.

A form will then be sent to candidates by Macron sportswear requesting size details for the referee kit. Referees under 18 will receive a purple referee shirt, in line with the current FA initiative. Candidates over 18 will receive a black shirt.

Referee shirts will come complete with the Selby League logo. Each candidate will also receive a set of flags and with the equipment received on the course the referees will be good to go to referee their mandatory 5 games immediately after the 3 day course.

Once the candidate has completed their 5 matches and passed the written examination they will then become qualified referees.

At this point the newly qualified referee should contact Peter and inform him they are now qualified. The refund of £135 will then be paid by the Selby League.

Goole Tigers under 10 orange team came through a tough World Cup group phase only to be rewarded with a tricky tie away to a strong Wheldrake team. The lads were superb and stormed through the semi final with a win, setting up a tasty final against our local rivals Snaith storm.

The final at West Park gave us home advantage and a good crowd were in attendance for the game.

Tigers were pressing from the off but didn’t get a breakthrough until the second quarter when a single goal scored by Connor was all they carried into the latter stages.

Some tidy passing and great teamwork produced 2 goals from Jack Brown and Oliwier in as many minutes during the 3rd quarter.

As a valiant Snaith side saw chances go begging the tigers held on for a deserved win.

Being part of Goole Town Tigers is like a second family. The U10 Blacks are a fantastic team whose players play with a smile on their face and show respect to their manager.

A mixture of results recently does not show the hard effort the lads put into football both in training and on match days. They have played some really immense football this half of the season leading them into trying the 9v9 format ready for next season. Playing 9v9 is proving to be a great step up for the lads who are truly enjoying the bigger pitch and starting to really get to grips with the offside rule.

They always show a willing and desire to compete to the very best of their abilities. Each player brings their own uniqueness to the team and each offers something different to the other. This team has a heart as big as a lion and they always stride to achieve everything possible.

The coach has managed to keep a core of players right from the start and added a few rough diamonds along the way which all show signs of getting better and better as they grow and mature in there footballing careers.

A willing determination is witnessed throughout by both players/parents who show up in to support their child/relative, always making it a friendly atmosphere on a match day whether it’s a home or away game.

Please help and continue to support this club and the other age groups as Goole Town Tigers JFC are the future of football both in this town and further.

Any players interested in joining please contact the club through the manager details lower on the web page or through their Facebook page.

Goole Town Tigers have just received 50% funding £822.00 from the Football Foundation for 3 sets of mini 7 v 7 & 5 v 5 goal sets.

The new goals are quicker on the day and easier to store and unlike the plastic mini goals they are stronger and more rigid.
