Match Report Saturday 25th February 2012GooleTown Tigers U12s V Riccall (away)

The last time the Tigers met this side despite a hard fought battle the Goole lads managed to walk away victors 3-1. The Riccall side present a strong side that can counter break in a most dangerous way. In the first minutes it was obvious the Tigers meant business and constantly pushing forward. Jordan Francis nearly bent the side post in an opening strike following Corey Browns first corner ball of the day. Josh Evans fed the ball to Jay Sharman who lobed the ball over the keeper to put Goole on the board. Today was constant pressure from the Tigers and winning numerous corners all taken very well by Brown and following three consecutive corners Francis knocked in Goole’s second. Following three more corners from Brown Jamie Hunt hit one on target but the Riccall keeper tipped it over the cross bar. The following corner the ball glanced Sharman’s back and set up William Broadley to smash the ball in past the keeper. Riccall made one or two more counters and pulled back a goal under dubious circumstances as offside was in question. Harvey Blyth aided by George Cooper and Jacob Holgate were spot in defence today making so many tidy tackles and Liam Broughton was faultless as Goole’s keeper. Today was the day of many corners for the Tigers and one more before the break saw Browns excellent placed ball find Evans who put in number four. In the second half it was looking like no goals were to be scored with some nice dispossessing tackles from the Tigers lads Cole Muttock, Kean Noon and not forgetting their great new signing Sam Smith. Then the flood gates seemed to open with Liam Harvey’s great second half goal picked up from Browns long free kick from Goole’s half. The following minutes were a pure joy to watch with all the lads totally on fire and Hunt feeding balls to the forwards and Sharman knocked two more in accepting the long ball from Hunt and making good use. With only a minute to play Liam Harvey hit long ball up finding Sharman again who shot in one more lobbed over the keeper so well from the edge of the box. Today the ref named Sharman the man of the match for his top drawer contribution.
