Match Report Saturday 12th May 2012 Goole Town Tigers U12s V Elvington (away)

In this thrilling climax to the Tigers U12s Selby red league for Goole, the boys travelled out for an early 9.15 start at Elvington. Goal number one was in Goole’s favour when Jay Sharman passed to Jordan Francis who slid the ball through to Josh Evans to place it in the top corner. Their 2nd goal was set up from good tackle by Cole Muttock and then passed to Francis to coolly finish. Number three was a fantastic individual effort when Sharman took on three Elvington players and smashed the ball in from the edge of the box. Goal four was initiated by great tackling from Kean Noon and a brave header by Jacob Holgate dropping the ball to Sharman and a quick pass to Evans who took it down the left wing and crossed for Francis to finish. Last time these teams met Elvington won 2-1 and suddenly their old form was showing and shaking the Tigers by pulling to back before half time. Harvey Blyth again was solid at the back and with Liam Harvey making so great headway in midfield. Soon the Tigers were threatening in the second period winning a 35 yard free kick and Corey Brown who is probably one of the best left footers in the league  curled the ball into Elvingtions top corner to give Goole a fifth goal. The flood gates were now opening goal 6 and Jamie Hunts cross was headed in by Sharman. The seventh was scored by Hunt after hard work from Muttock laying it on for him to hit in a real screamer from the box edge. Ewan Derby’s run down the right followed by a hard low hit found the target for the eighth. Goole’s keeper, Liam Broughton, made the save of the match when a 50/50 clash well off his line with the Elvington striker led to another striker getting a shot only to be denied by Broughton in this superb double save. Number nine was a good pass from Evans for Sharman to neatly finish. Sharman’s single handed effort from the half way line and smash home saw Goole now hid double figures. This was not to be the close of the account for the Tigers when number eleven followed a nice one two between Hunt and Muttock and Hunt put the ball through the defence for Evans to run on to it and lob the keeper. In the last minutes of this goal fest match George Cooper came close with a brilliant shot but one more made it a dozen when Evans crossed and Sharman slipped the ball in at the far post. It was an impressive team performance today with all players giving their all.
The referee’s man of the match was Jay Sharman with an outstanding game and scoring five goals in total. Winning this game resulted in the Goole boys finishing runners up in this tough league and a draw or loss would have not been enough.

The Goole Town Tigers U12s presentation night is due to take place on Saturday 26th May held at the Old Goole Working Men’s Club starting at 7pm. there will be a Disco, Buffet, Face Painting and Raffle and we look forward to seeing as many there as possible.
