Match Report Saturday 17th July 2010 Goole Town Tigers U11s V Thorne (away)
Friendly 11 a side Match
Today the Tigers played their first ever 11 a side match away at Thorne Colliery ground on the full size seniors pitch. Straight from the kick off it caught the lads out a few times with playing the offside rules. They also had to get used to the bigger goals and vast size of the pitch. The Thorne side were the first to present with a real danger and almost went one up but for defender Corey Brown clearing from the keepers line. At the other end Jay Sharman was running through well with the ball but three shots of his went wide or were saved. Another close one came as Josh Evans fed Liam Harvey who also just shot wide. Goole looked good and a strong defence with George Cooper making some great tackles and long balls up to Ewan Derby and Harvey Blyth meant an all team effort gave a chance for Sharman to run through and get Goole’s first goal in the eleven a side team. As the game resumed Thorne made a strong attack and a shot were Jack Pepper made a top quality save. Tigers got their second goal when Jamie Hunt slotted a ball to Evans who took two touches the fired home number two. Before the break Thorne pulled one back to keep things still close. After a well earned rest at half time and some substitutions the Tigers came out attacking and Cole Muttock who was having a super match made a shot at goal and assisted by the legs of a Thorne defender scored Goole’s third Goal. One more score in this match and for the Goole side came as Liam Harvey passed two defenders and rocketed the ball passed the keeper. The main two notable highlights before the final whistle was a shot from Liam Broughton just pushed wide by the keeper and another clearance from Goole’s line by Brown. The midfield play seemed to be the winning area today for the Tigers and an impressive display from to name three Jordan Francis, Kean Noon and Josh Geldard. The whole team worked so hard and deserved to win adapting so well to this new format. Well done.
